New Vista needs donations...plus they are going Ziplining today!!

Can you consider helping us by donating/pledging us for 1, 2, 3 or even 5 ziplines at $100 per line? Or any amount you can give we would soooo greatly appreciate as would New Vista. We both recognize that our economy is not what it used to be and that you are being asked to help with more needs in our community. Please know that your donation now is an investment into lives for many generations and families to come that have or will be affected by a disability.

We have been committed to this organization for nearly 8 years. Your continued support of this passion we have means the world to us as you come alongside us in making REAL change in the lives of adults and kids with intellectual challenges. New Vista's mission is about giving people a "life" that would otherwise not be given a chance to experience the small things we take for granted every day.

It's simple to help at whatever level you can by going to our weblink and making a pledge. Your donations are always welcome, but in order to hit our goal we need them in by this Saturday evening.

Just go to our personal fundraising page at newvistanv.dojiggy.com/flyingjacksons to make your 100% tax-deductible pledge/donation.

Please excuse receiving this if you have already responded.

Our Warmest Thanks,
Michelle & Lee

Interesting, noteworthy gifts from The Titanic at the Luxor!

This year, give the nice, not the naughty, coal in their stocking. This April marks 100 years since the sinking of the Titanic, what better way to honor her legacy then with a historic gift from Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition. Perfect for those captivated by the infamous story, the Authentic Coal Keepsakes and Filigree Necklace are ideal for any history enthusiasts.

Authentic Coal Keepsakes
If looking for a true collector’s item, the authentic coal brought up from the actual wreck, is the perfect choice and starts at just $19.99. These small yet precious pieces were part of the 5,892 tons of coal loaded onboard Titanic when it left England almost a century ago and are the only artifacts salvaged from the Ship of Dreams that can be sold to the public.

Did You Know?
One hundred fifty-nine furnaces burned almost 700 tons of coal each day to drive the Ship’s three massive propellers. This extraordinary fuel source made the Titanic capable of 23 knots, which was a slightly slower speed for ships of the time but the engineering design provided Titanic with far more spacious, comfortable and luxurious accommodations.

Filigree Necklace
If gems and diamonds are more appealing, ladies can feel like one of Titanic’s first-class passengers who brought their finest jewels to wear in the evening while at sea.  Walk away from The Exhibition with a stunning replica of the recovered 15 inch filigree necklace hand constructed of platinum set with small diamonds.  Once at the bottom of the ocean, this striking necklace was brought up from the wreck and is now on display at The Exhibition at Luxor for guest to gaze upon its immaculate beauty.  Clearly as beautiful as the famous “Heart of the Ocean” necklace made famous in the James Cameron film, this piece of jewelry can be purchased for only $20.

Did You Know?
Some checked their valuables with Titanic’s Chief Purser, Herbert McElroy, for safekeeping during the voyage. Other passengers carried their valuables in money belts or hid them in old doctor’s bags and steamer trunks. One wealthy couple was rumored to have traveled in Third Class so as to better hide the diamonds in their luggage.

From art and apparel to books and collectibles, the perfect gift for every history buff is now available at the Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition retail shop inside Luxor Hotel and Casino or online at TheTitanicStore.com.  Come view the artifacts and take home a small keepsake for you or a friend this holiday season.

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition at Luxor provides  visitors with the opportunity to become a passenger and feel the excitement of that April day as they move through expanded Exhibition galleries; view more than 20 never-before-seen authentic artifacts including gaming chips, passenger personal papers and decorative sections from Titanic’s famed Grand Staircase; and  experience  the Ship’s historical journey in chronological order: from the construction yards, to her maiden voyage, first and third class room re-creations, the Promenade Deck, the Grand Staircase, the fated sinking, to modern day recovery efforts. http://www.luxor.com/entertainment/titanic.aspx

The “Eat ‘N’ Greet” luncheon will feature an incredible opportunity for fans to enjoy an intimate meal with the band members of Lynyrd Skynyrd along with an interactive presentation by Jeff Arnett, the 7th master distiller in Jack Daniel’s 142-year history. The evening concert will offer Lynyrd Skynyrd fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be one of just a few hundred people to see the iconic band perform in their first dining venue.

Tickets for the grand opening concert are priced starting at $300 per person. Tickets for the “Eat ‘N’ Greet” and concert package are available for $750 per person. This package also will include an array of signature grand opening items including a limited edition single-barrel bottle of Jack Daniel’s topped with a commemorative bronze bottle-necker autographed by Arnett and the band members of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Tickets for this 21+ concert are available at the Excalibur Box Office by calling 702.597.7477. A portion of proceeds from both events will be donated to the Lynyrd Skynyrd Foundation, Epicurean Charitable Foundation of Las Vegas and Nevada Children’s Medical Center.

Developed in partnership with Lynyrd Skynyrd and Drive This! Entertainment, a Las Vegas-based hospitality company that owns and operates RHUMBAR at The Mirage, Tacos & Tequila at Luxor Hotel and Casino and Casa Fuente in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, Lynyrd Skynyrd BBQ & Beer will serve fare from Kreuz Market in Lockhart, Tex. A tour of barbecue joints throughout the nation led them to the 111-year-old Texas institution, where the barbecue has been refined to perfection by the Schmidt family. Kreuz Market has been widely recognized as one of the top barbecue restaurants in the country, with top honors for their brisket and sausage by the Food Network and Travel Channel, and a rating as Zagat’s number two barbecue spot in the nation.

The band’s famed “Hell House” is the inspiration behind the atmosphere, and band members Van Zant, Gary Rossington and Rickey Medlocke have consulted with the culinary team to highlight some of their barbecue favorites.

Designed to capture the spirit of the band’s “Hell House,” the walls are made of authentic 150-year old barnyard wood, with concrete floors and aged brick completing the downhome feel of the space. The tables are made from floors of historic grain barns and the surface marks are hoof marks from many generations of animals. The tabletops are made of rough-faced old growth Doug fir from pre-World War II era from historic sites including a 1927 Brentwood house and a Los Angeles church. The staff is part of the action – hot bartenders and servers will be swinging, singing and jumping atop the bars and stage throughout the night - leading riotous sing-alongs to classic rock songs and Lynyrd Skynyrd favorites.

Old School Wednesday at LAVO...with DAS EFX..they got the party going!

Das EFX headlined Old School Wednesday at LAVO.  The hip hop duo of Skoob and Dray took to the stage in front of the packed dance floor and wasted no time getting the crowd involved, letting some club goers sing into the mic and even bumming a cigarette off a guest.  The fun and energetic group delivered an exciting performance.

Taking in the scene was NASCAR star Jeff Gordon, who had a VIP table next to the stage with friends.  The group was all smiles as they listened to the hip hop being played and loved getting their own Rocky presentation delivering a magnum of Champagne.  Gordon kept the party going, having shots passed out to nearby tables, making sure everyone had a great time.

Earlier in the evening Dale Earnhardt Jr. dined at LAVO with a large group of friends and family.  The race car driver and friends enjoyed dishes including Caesar Salad, Minestrone soup, Penne Alla Vodka and more.
