Central's Bar offers specialty drinks and people watching!

With the opening of Central Michel Richard at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas’ already vibrant social scene just became a whole lot brighter. With a wraparound, double-sided white onyx bar open onto the resort’s bustling hotel lobby, Central’s bar offers an incomparable people-watching vantage point. Most importantly, guests will delight in its extraordinary menu of lively libations—from a selection of specialty beers never before offered in the United States to creative cocktails, an expansive wine list and extensive roster of bourbons and whiskeys.

Patrons will discover Innis & Gunn Original, a rum cask beer from Edinburgh, Scotland, offered for the very first time on draught in the United States. This brew is golden honey in color, punctuated by mouth-watering vanilla and toffee notes with hints of fruit.  Other acclaimed beers offered on tap at Central including Chimay Cinq-Cents, Delirium Tremens, Old Speckled Hen, Newcastle, Kronenbourg, Stella Artois, Guinness, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Fat Tire and Miller Lite.

Central’s outstanding collection of bottled beers includes many Belgian (Hoegaarden, Piraat, Westmalle) and Dutch (Duvel, Gulden Draak, La Trappe) brews not commonly found in the United States. Other notable bottles include the Australian Coopers Ale and the American PranQster, as well as several other European, Mexican and American brews. Prices for beer at Central range from $7 to $14.

On Central’s imaginative cocktail menu, fresh fruit takes center stage:

  1. Muddled blueberries in the Bluberry Blitz, which blends Stoli Bluberry Vodka with lemon juice, Champagne and simple syrup
  2. Drunken cranberries in the Halcyon Cosmo, a concoction of Grey Goose Le Citron, Cointreau, lime juice and white cranberry juice
  3. Fresh grapefruit juice and a grapefruit twist in the Gladiator Potion, a mix of Aperol, Boodles Gin, sweet vermouth and peach bitters
  4. Brandy-soaked cherries in Sweet Magic, a blend of Hendrick’s Gin, orange juice, Pernod and grenadine.
  5. Strawberries in the Strawberry Basil Mojito, a fusion of Bacardi Rum, basil club soda, lime juice and simple syrup

Other cocktail selections include the Cucumber Mint Gimlet (Plymouth Gin, Yellow Chartreuse, lime juice, simple syrup, muddled cucumber and mint), Pear Sangria (pear nectar, dry Riesling, Cruzan Single Barrel Rum, Cointreau) and the Brittany Bulleit (Bulleit Bourbon, Champagne, orange juice, lemon juice, simple syrup). Cocktail prices range from $12 to $15.

It takes a vast wine list to encompass the hundreds of vintages housed in Central’s two, spectacular glass wine rooms, which flank the bar. Twenty-four wines by the glass are offered, including sparkling, red, white and rosé varieties, as well as the Domaine Bzikot “Michel Richard Selection” Bourgogne Blanc Chardonnay. Wines by the glass are priced from $9 to $29.

Whiskey aficionados will revel in Central’s substantial offerings, including 19 whiskeys, 21 Kentucky-straight bourbons, 23 single-malt scotches and six blended scotch varieties. Prices for a single range from $9 (Jim Beam, Johnnie Walker Red) to $162 (Macallan 30-year single-malt).

Central Michel Richard at Caesars Palace debuted this September.  The menu reflects Richard’s signature American cuisine crafted with a French accent.  Just like the menu and décor inside and out, the experience is unpretentious yet imaginative.

The total 300-capacity restaurant is located in the area previously occupied by the Augustus Café, adjacent to Caesars Palace’s bustling registration lobby.  This prime location at the Strip-facing main entrance of the hotel allows for guests to park in the hotel's main valet and go directly into the restaurant.

Central is Caesars Palace's only location to be open 24 hours a day, seven days per week.

Winners from Walter V. Long Elementary School visit Disney's Lion King!

Disney’s THE LION KING at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino welcomed energetic students and teachers from Walter V. Long Elementary to its matinee performance yesterday. In honor of THE LION KING’s 1,000th performance, fifth grader Daniel Hernandez earned his school 1,000 tickets to the show when he submitted the winning essay to the Clark County School District’s contest “Why My School Should Go to THE LION KING.”

The students arrived to the beautiful Mandalay Bay Theatre wide-eyed and anxious for the show to begin. For many of the children, this was their first experience seeing a live musical production, and the teachers could not be more thrilled for the students to have this rare opportunity to see THE LION KING before ending its run at Mandalay Bay Dec. 30.

After the show, the students were patiently waiting in their seats for their teachers’ instruction when cast members Cornelius Jones Jr. (“Simba”), Samantha Ware (“Nala”), Zaire Adams (“Young Simba”) and Nia Harris (“Young Nala”) surprised the kids by coming out from backstage into the audience. The students went wild with cheers as Jones and Ware waved and gave hugs to several children. Hernandez, donning a LION KING T-shirt and LION KING temporary tattoo, came down from his seat to meet the cast members. When Ware asked Hernandez how he enjoyed the show, he replied, “It was great!” Hernandez’s teacher Danielle Rayos added, “He was transfixed the entire performance.”

As the giddy students exited the theater, they were handed souvenir LION KING caps. The children excitingly sported the caps as they made their way to their school buses. The 1,000 students and teachers from Walter V. Long Elementary are seeing THE LION KING over two matinee performances, and the remaining children will see the show Saturday, Nov. 19. THE LION KING celebrated its 1,000th performance on Thursday, Nov. 3.

THE LION KING is thanking its Las Vegas supporters for an incredible two and a half years on The Strip with a special 2-for-1 ticket offer. This extraordinary offer affords Nevada residents the chance to enjoy the world’s No. 1 musical at Mandalay Bay Theatre at an unbeatable price through Dec. 18. To purchase tickets, call 702-632-7580 or visit the Mandalay Bay Box Office and mention the code “PRIDE” with valid Nevada ID. Blackout dates are Nov. 23 - 27.

Pasta Cucina has Arrived! At several Boulder Stations in LV! Affordable Italian dining!

Stations Casino’s has long been a local’s favorite! Whether you enjoy gaming promotions, a fun atmosphere and friendly service, well you know where to go! Look for this new addition to add to your list of places to dine!

Pasta Cucina has arrived! The new Italian restaurant concept recently debuted at Station’s casinos throughout the valley. Check the website for the one located nearest to you www.stationcasinos.com.  We had the pleasure of dining at the Boulder Station location. Welcoming and affordable the menu has all of the Italian favorites you could possible want. We started off the meal with the Calamari Fritti which easily could serve a family of four, light and fresh this calamari was fresh and plentiful and priced at $8.99 Also on the appetizer list which we enjoyed were the Zucchini Fritti, once again lightly breaded and served with alfredo and marinara dipping sauces at $6.99.
Linguine and Clams
On to the Classics! The Chicken Marsala was simply divine! A rich creamy sauce with button mushrooms was smooth and the linguini was cooked perfectly – neither to soft nor to hard. A true classic that sometimes can go wrong, but not at Pasta Cucina - $12.99. Another Classic is the Linguini and Clams, which as we know can also be tricky! The clams were fresh and tasty and most definitely another recommendation from the menu. This was also priced just right at $12.99. Any of these dishes could be found at a “fine dining” Italian restaurant and priced more but you would be hard pressed to tell the difference. Flavorful and delish!
WINE!
Every type of wine is available for your dinner pairings! Expect to find a comprehensive wine list that once again would rival any Italian restaurant in the city. We had a delightful fruity, sunny Pinot Grigio which was the correct wine in which to savor a warm good-bye to summer! The ambiance is warm and welcoming with table and booth setting available. The wait staff is personable and friendly!
Fresh Home-made Desserts

Deserts are always the fine finish to a great meal. Whether you choose to have the hand made Cannoli’s with the pistachio coating or the rich and decadent Tiramisu you once again will be satisfied and delighted! All of the above dishes are generous and we had a meal for the next day and lunch! Pasta Cucina brings find Italian dining to your neighborhood at affordable prices. Enjoy!
