Joshi's Jamboree takes place Saturday..a KINDNESS event!

 Josh Stevens Foundation will host the first Joshi’s Jamboree, to celebrate the life of a great young man whose life was cut too short.  Affectionately known as “Joshi” to his parents, Barbara and Drew Stevens, who are also the foundation’s founders, the jamboree is open to all Southern Nevada families.  The event will take place at Combat Zone Paintball, a place Josh was anticipating the opening of but passed shortly before it did.

More than 90 schools are invited to attend.  Friends, family and supporters of the Josh Stevens Foundation will be in attendance.  Families will enjoy food, games, rides and of course – paintball!

The entry for the event is free.  Tickets for food, rides and games are on sale. Paintball is $5 per 10 minute game per person including 140 paintballs for ages 10 and up.

Founded in 2008, the Josh Stevens Foundation’s mission is to recognize and reward a child’s heartfelt KIND act and to inspire kids to be more KIND, more often.  Genuine KINDNESS born in the heart of a child deserves celebration.  One month before Josh’s 13th birthday, he lost his life in a tragic accident in September 2008.  Amongst his friends, family and community, he was known as a person who was KIND and often did good deeds for others.  He left a legacy of KINDNESS that lives on today through the work of the foundation.  To date, nearly 25,000 KINDNESS cards and 40,000 “Be Kind” t-shirts with various slogans have been printed and distributed.  Billboards in Southern Nevada and Oregon are now up touting the organization’s message.  Everything the foundation does honors Josh: on the 5th of every month, for Josh’s birthday, the foundation does random acts of KINDNESS.  Examples include surprising needy families by helping pay for layaway gifts, donating money to feed children in Haiti, supporting grieving families and much more.  The logo, itself, is a recreation of actual drawings from Josh; the three mountains represented Josh and his siblings, Shelbie and Sam, who Josh named.  The sun, to Josh, signified his parents protecting the kids with the 12 points on the sun symbolizing Josh’s age.

Yes, it's true! The legendary Miss Coco Peru is coming to Sin City - at the one and only Onyx Theatre!

Miss Coco got her start as a downtown favorite in the cabaret world of NY after writing, producing, directing, and starring in “Miss Coco Peru in My Goddamn Cabaret” nearly 20 years ago.

On screen, Miss Coco is best known for her roles in Jim Fall's Fineline feature film, trick (Sundance 1999) and Richard Day's IFC feature length comedy Girls Will Be Girls.(Sundance 2002) For this film Coco shared the Best Actress Award with his two co-stars Jeffery Roberson and Jack Plotnick at the HBO Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen as well as the Best Actor Award at Outfest Film Festival. Other film appearances include To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, Nick and Jane, and Straight-Jacket. Coco can be heard in the Disney animated feature, The Wild as Mamma Hippo! She just completed shooting the highly-ish anticipated sequel of Girls Will Be Girls which is due to have a 2012 release date.

Coco has appeared on TV in Arrested Development, Twins, Will and Grace, New York Undercover, Showtime's Rude Awakening, Bravo’s Boy Meets Boy, Bravo’s Sexiest Moments in Film, Bravo’s Welcome to the Parker, and in an Orbitz commercial that was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award. Coco has her very own half- hour LOGO comedy special taped as part of the “Wisecrack” series. The episode airs regularly and is available on itunes! She recently followed up this show with an hour-long LOGO special called “One Night Stand-up – DRAGTASTIC” but this time she had to share the stage with other drag queens. Is she bitter? Absolutely. Last fall, she was seen in a cameo role on CBS’s How I Met Your Mother as a Drag Queen Prostitute. Dreams do come true. Most recently, Coco was seen on ABC’s Detroit 187 as, guess what? A bitter, aging drag queen.

Plenty of Vegas celebrities including Carrot Top, Jeff Timmons from 98 Degrees and the dashing men of Thunder From Down Under showed up to celebrate the occasion at Rice & Company enjoying delectable sushi and sipping on succulent cocktails. 

Rice & Company also debuted their newest addition to the menu, the FANTASY roll, made lovingly with king crab, shrimp, cream cheese, asparagus, tobiko, shiso leaf roll and was dressed sensually in fishnet stockings with Thai mayo and yuzu to garnish.  The FANTASY roll along with Executive Chef Tommy Gorball, even made time to strut their stuff down the red carpet surrounded by the beautiful women of FANTASY.

The atmosphere combines classic and contemporary design features, offering guests a dynamic setting to enjoy their dining experience. There are three semi-private dining rooms for business meetings, rehearsal dinners, bachelor/bachelorette parties and more, accommodating 10, 30 and 40 guests, respectively.

Las Vegas has spoken! Due to critical acclaim and popular demand, ABSINTHE’s filthy rich impresario, The Gazillionaire, has announced that Las Vegas’ “Best New Show” will return to the spotlight at the glimmering epicenter of the Las Vegas Strip, the Roman Plaza at Caesars Palace. ABSINTHE will return to Sin City late-October, where the show’s outlandish acts will continue to captivate audiences and critics alike in a newly transformed venue, infused with mystique and intrigue.    

“With the ridiculous amount of money that I put into this show, having it stay here at Caesars Palace for another year isn’t such a bad idea,” said Gaz. “Besides, everyone here in Vegas loves us so much, it’d be a shame to take that away from them.”

ABSINTHE fans can take pleasure in knowing that the foul-mouthed Gazillionaire, his raucous assistant Penny Pibbets and the cast of eccentric performers will once again take center stage to allure and hypnotize audiences with the jaw-dropping acts guests have come to know and love.

ABSINTHE will resume performances on October 21.  Upon opening, guests will find a new ABSINTHE venue suitable for all seasons which will integrate the old-world charm, theater-in-the-round presentation and intimate nature that audiences have embraced.

ABSINTHE will perform Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. and Wednesday and Sunday at 8:00 p.m., with no show on Monday. The opening week schedule will be Friday, October 21, Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23 at 8:00pm and 10:00pm.  The schedule is subject to change without notice.
