Fan of The Who's Tommy? New concert at Ovation with local rockers!

The Who's TOMMY in Concert at Ovation inside Green Valley Ranch
Today at 8:00pm - August 30 at 10:00pm

When British rockers The Who released their double-LP Tommy in 1969, rock and roll was changed forever. Pete Townshend’s scorching rock opera told the loose story of a “deaf, dumb and blind boy” who unwittingly becomes leader of a messianic movement.

The album’s release introduced the now-classic songs Pinball Wizard and Acid Queen, among several others. It was subsequently adapted as a star-studded film in 1975 and as a Broadway production in 1993.

“This is the next step in the progression,” says Troy Heard, director of The Who’s TOMMY in Concert, opening in August at Green Valley Ranch. “We kept the narrative through line developed for the Broadway production, while stripping away the theatrical elements and taking it all back down into a rock concert form. The storytelling is still key, though, and there’s enough here to excite both rock lovers and theatre goers without alienating either.”

The cast is made up of popular local rockers and theatre performers from around the valley. Jason Andino, Sandra Huntsman, Brandon Nix, and Francesca Camus head an absolutely stacked cast.

The Who’s TOMMY in Concert, produced by RagTag Entertainment opens Tuesday, August 9, at the Ovation Room in Green Valley Ranch. Tickets are $15, and available at all Station casino locations, or online at www.stationcasinos.com.

Performances: 16, 23, and 30th 8 PM

Birthday Bash! Hip Hop Artist Fatman Scoop at LAX!

Hip-hop artist Fatman Scoop celebrated his birthday at LAX Nightclub inside Luxor Hotel and Casino with a very special live performance. Just before 1 a.m. the guest host for the night entered the venue with his small posse of six. Resident DJ Gusto got the party started by spinning one of Fatman Scoop’s track before the artist immediately jumped on stage and started his birthday performance.

Before the lively entertainer with the unique voice began an assortment of hit songs, he asked the security to remove the ropes and allow his fans to get up close for the mini-concert. His crowd pleasing set included his own singles, “It Takes Scoop,” and “Drop,” and also adding his rough, raw, loud voice covering Crooklyn Clan’s, “Wanna Jump,” Taio Cruz’s, “Dynamite” and more.

Highlight of the night for the avid Sin City partygoers was when Fatman Scoop made his way to the center of the nightclub’s dance floor and sang to DMX’s track, “Party Up (Up In Here),” where he had the fans simultaneously jumping up-and-down inside the mega-club. He closed with a crowd favorite and his GRAMMY® Award-winning single, Missy Elliott’s, “Lose Control.”

Following his 30-minute set, the birthday boy was presented with a cake specifically decorated to match his stage name. The hip-hop artist was smitten by his ice cream themed birthday cake as he blew out his candles and asked if he could take it home with him.  Following the cake presentation Fatman Scoop returned to his private VIP table and continued to celebrate his birthday with his wife and close friends until the early hours of the morning.

Asher Roth at Legendary Studio 54 Saturday! Ecstatic Girls go wild!

Studio 54 at MGM Grand welcomed rap sensation Asher Roth for a special performance and night of partying on Saturday, Aug. 6.
Fans swarmed the red carpet as the “I Love College” singer arrived rocking a gray tee and red Nike sneakers. The ever-gracious Roth posed for photos and mingled with fans before making his way inside the illustrious nightclub.

Roth ascended to his exclusive VIP table overlooking the lively crowd dancing to the electric sounds of DJ Homicide. The rapper surveyed the club below and threw his hands up in the air in celebration of a fun-filled night. After toasting with friends, Roth was ready to take the stage for a stellar performance unlike any other.

DJ Wreckineyez warmed up the crowd, taking it back to the old school with remixes of hits like the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back.” Roth and his entourage gathered to the side of the stage nodding their heads to Wreckineyez’s bumping beats.

At last, Roth took to the stage and said, “What’s up, Vegas? My name is Asher Roth, and I just want to have a little fun.” Roth then jumped into the crowd, and his fans went wild cheering for the rap star. Back on stage, Roth kicked off his three-song set with “She Don’t Wanna Man,” pulling ecstatic girls on stage and dancing along side of them.
Before his next song, Roth looked out into the club and said, “All the wonderful [Studio 54] dancers are doing a great job. Thank you very much.” The singer introduced one of his new songs to the crowd, “Actin’ Up,” as fans continued to rush to the stage vying for the chance to touch the rapper’s hand and snag a picture.

Roth closed his set by singing his hit single, “I Love College,” as the crowd cheered and sang along, fist-pumping to his infamous lyrics. The rapper thanked the adoring crowd and returned to his VIP table to celebrate his smashing performance and party the night away with friends and fans at Vegas’ most legendary nightclub.
