Fan of Dead Pan Humor? Then you will really enjoy Steven Wright! At The Orleans!

Deadpan Stand-Up Comedian Steven Wright to Perform at The Orleans Showroom, March 26-27

Billed as the “Confucius of Comedy” by the New York Post, Academy Award-winner and Grammy Award nominee Steven Wright brings his trademark wit, absurdist one-liners and monotone voice to The Orleans Showroom, March 26 and 27, each evening at 8 p.m.

Beginning his comedy career at the age of 23 as a regular performer at Ding Ho’s Comedy Club and Chinese Restaurant in Cambridge, Mass., Wright got his first big break and was booked on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Following his on-air performance Wright was invited to return the following week for a rare back-to-back performance, launching his career into high gear. His new kind of comedy and lackluster voice caught the comedy world’s attention and he appeared on Saturday Night Live, Late Night with David Letterman and many reoccurring appearances of The Tonight Show. As his fame grew, he was given two of his own HBO stand-up specials titled, A Steven Wright Special and Wicker Chairs and Gravity.

In 1989, he received an Academy Award for Best Short Film for his satiric film, The Appointments of Dennis Jennings, which he co-starred and wrote. Wright has appeared in several other small and big screen films including Mike Myers’ So I Married an Axe Murder, Desperately Seeking Susan, Half-Baked and has lent his voice to films for children including The Swan Princess and Babe 2: Pig in the Big City. He also appeared in Coffee and Cigarettes and The Aristocrats.

Wright’s ironic, deadpan comedy and bizarre observations continue to earn him regular guest spots on the late night talk show circuit with David Letterman, Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel and Craig Ferguson while spreading laughs, giggles and smiles while touring the U.S., Canada and overseas.

Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are available starting from $34.95, plus tax and convenience fees, and can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 702.365.7075 or visiting www.orleanscasino.com. Save on convenience fees by purchasing the tickets in person at Coast Casinos.

In Las Vegas Next Week!!! A Galaxy of Stars! Ryan Reynolds Male Star of the Year! CINEMACON

Ryan Reynolds to Receive CINEMACON Male Star of the Year Award!

Warner Bros. to Release “Green Lantern” WIDE on June 17th,

Ryan Reynolds will receive the  “CinemaCon Male Star of the Year Award,” it was announced today by Mitch Neuhauser, managing director of CinemaCon, which will be held March 28-31, 2011, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Reynolds will be presented with this special honor at the inaugural “CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards” ceremony to take place on Thursday evening, March 31st in The Colosseum of Caesars Palace. The Coca-Cola Company, Official Presenting Sponsor of CinemaCon, will host the final night gala awards program.

“Ryan Reynolds is one of Hollywood’s most sought after leading men, who has entertained audiences with his charmingly comedic onscreen presence,” noted Neuhauser. “Starring in the title role of the upcoming action adventure ‘Green Lantern,’ Ryan is sure to gain a whole new legion of fans, and we could not be more honored to present him with the ‘CinemaCon Male Star of the Year Award.’”

On June 17th, Ryan Reynolds stars in the big screen debut of the enduringly popular super hero “Green Lantern,” released by Warner Bros. Pictures. Under the direction of Martin Campbell, Reynolds stars as Hal Jordan, a test pilot and the first human ever selected to wear the ring that grants him superpowers, as well as membership into the Green Lantern Corps, a brotherhood of warriors who have sworn to keep intergalactic order. Hal’s abilities are tested when a new enemy (Parallax) threatens to destroy the balance of power in the universe, but with encouragement from fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart, Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), and his determination and will power, Hal may prove to not only be the key to defeating the Parallax…he may become the greatest Green Lantern of them all.

Following “Green Lantern,” Reynolds stars with Jason Bateman and Olivia Wilde in “The Change-Up,” a comedy about a married guy who switches bodies with his best friend in order to woo his co-worker.  Reynolds is currently filming the action thriller “Safe House,” which also stars Denzel Washington.

Reynolds first caught moviegoers’ attention with his lead role in the 2002 comedy “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder.” Since then, he has gone on to star in such box office hits and critically acclaimed films as “Smokin’ Aces,” “The Nines,” “Definitely, Maybe,” “Adventureland,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” and, most recently, “Buried.”
