Pink and Carey Hart had a relaxing get-away at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas this past week. They checked into HRH Tower on Monday and stayed until Thursday. The couple remained low-key the entire week, hanging out at HRH Beach Club with friends (including professional skateboarder Bucky Lasek) and playing Blackjack. Pink also stopped by Reliquary for some spa time.
Model and former contestant on Dancing with the Stars Joanna Krupa partied at Playboy Club inside Palms Casino Resort on Thursday night (9.2.10). Ross has always had an affinity for Hollywood gloss. It is evident in his work that he is especially enamored of the Technicolor movies produced by 20th Century Fox during the 1940s. Ross attempts to capture the feeling and look of Technicolor, a color process Hollywood used during the 1940's and 50's (an art form now sadly lost) which, with it's garishly unreal hues, brought us a view of the world as we would like it to appear... but not as it truly does.
Working primarily in colored pencil, his drawings are mounted on foam core, and then arranged inside box frames to form a tableau. No photographs are used in the finished work. The subject matter varies with humor, pop culture and eroticism as recurring themes, but frequently masking darker, more subversive content.
The style is photo-realism. The finished art more closely resembles a 3-D movie still of the scene rather than a realistic depiction of the event itself.
The Sin Sity Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will be curating the gallery these two special nights. A portion of the sales for the evening will be donated to Sisters Aid Drug Assistance Program.
