Oh What A Night! Jersey Boys Collects Nearly 3.000 Pairs of Children’s Shoes in Honor of 1000th Performance!

The Stars of Jersey Boys Delivered Shoes to the Children of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas on Thursday, September 2

JERSEY BOYS cast members made a special delivery to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas on Thursday, September 2 bringing nearly 3,000 pairs of shoes which were collected during the very successful “Walk Like a Man” shoe drive in honor of their 1,000th show on August 28. The cast presented the shoes and spent time meeting the children of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas. In addition to the shoe donation, the Jersey Boys producers donated 1,000 pairs of socks to accompany to the shoes.

Fans were asked to bring a pair of children’s shoes to The JERSEY BOYS Theatre at the Palazzo Resort-Hotel-Casino in exchange for a complimentary ticket to the 1000th show at 6:30 p.m. on August 28. The original goal was to collect 1,000 pairs of children’s shoes but close to 3,000 fans came down to show their support for this great cause—some as early as 4:30 a.m. When the drive began at noon, fans were lined up throughout the property to donate shoes and in exchange, see one of the best shows in town. The original 1,000 tickets were gone by the first hour but thanks to the Jersey Boys producers everyone who brought a pair of shoes received a ticket to an upcoming performance.

Carrot Top at Hussong's Cantina..Serenaded and chats w/Owner Scott Frost!

Luxor headliner Carrot Top headed over to Hussong’s Cantina on Thursday night to accept a charcoal rendering that will be added to the restaurant’s Charcoal Portrait Wall of Fame. The comedian chatted with owners Scott Frost and Jeffrey Marks, while being serenaded by Hussong’s Rock n Roll Mariachis. Carrot Top is a regular at the Mandalay Place eatery and frequently orders the steak nachos and extra chips and salsa prior to his show. Tonight was no different, as the funny man grabbed his regular order to go.

The evening helped kick off Hussong’s new local promotion Uno! Dos! Tres! Thursdays, where Las Vegas locals can receive one taco, one Dos Equis and one Tres Agaves margarita or shot for only three dollars from 7 pm to 9 pm.

Now starting at $154, the Hoover Dam Helicopter Tour now includes a low level air tour of the historic monument inside a deluxe EC-130 Eco-Star helicopter. Guests will view this engineering marvel rising more than 700 feet from its foundation. This magnificent structure cannot fully be appreciated until seen from the air. The tour flies over Lake Mead, America’s largest man-made reservoir, the tributaries of the Colorado River and the beautiful Black Canyon before returning. Named one of the top 10 construction achievements of the 20th century, Hoover Dam continues to attract more than one million visitors per year nearly 70 years after its creation. In 1930, construction began in Black Canyon, located minutes outside of Las Vegas. Despite its enormity and harsh desert conditions, the project was completed in less than five years instead of the projected seven and well under budget. The dam is named after America’s 31st president, Herbert Hoover. Hoover Dam is the highest concrete dam in the Western hemisphere, standing at more than 900 feet above the Colorado River with 17 generators producing four billion kilowatts of electricity every year.

As for the Colorado River Bridge, it is the central portion of the Hoover Dam Bypass project that began Jan. 2005 and is expected to be completed at the end of 2010. The 2,000 foot long bridge is quite the engineering site. When completed, the bridge will span the Black Canyon, connecting Arizona and Nevada approach highways nearly 90 feet above the river.
