The trunk show will showcase Steuben’s hand-crafted, designs by the late artist James Houston and sculptor Michele Oka Doner, among others. Houston’s work is influenced by the time he spent in the Arctic with the Inuit people and can be seen in the permanent collections of many museums including: Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Winnipeg Art Museum. Oka Doner’s Reef Collection for Steuben represents her first work with glass and translates natural forms into objects of power and seduction. A wonderful dining experience is yours to enjoy - Canal Street at the Orleans!

Introduction of New Menu Items at Canal Street - Orleans Hotel & Casino

The Canal Street restaurant at the Orleans refreshes its menu every eighteen months or so to keep up with their customer's changing palates. Items that have been added include one of the most delicious and creamy and delightful Lobster Bisque that I have had the pleasure of tasting! Chef Philip Bonanno did share some of his secrets on how this delish dish is prepared - think of slow roasting lobsters, then adding a mixture of cognac cream and mushrooms and what you have is a smooth buttery melt in your mouth bisque. Do yourself a favor and order a bowl! Another great appetizer is the beef short rib ravioli with everything being handmade and direct from the chef!

Wine is a large part of an experience when enjoying a meal and Sommelier John Messana added some well rounded and enjoyable wines to go with each course, however two were outstanding! A Sonoma Cutrer, Pinot Noir, Russian River was perfect with the Chili Cured and Cilantro crusted Lamb lollipop. Sometimes lamb can have a slightly gamey taste and this lamb was cooked to perfection and was tender and the earthiness of the wine enhanced it without overpowering the taste.

Asti Spumante is a sweet wine and not one that I have ever really enjoyed. However my opinion was changed with the introduction of the Michele Chiarlo Moscato di Asti – Piedmonte, Italy! This Asti is grown in soil that is adjacent to a peach orchard and that is what wafts up your nose as you drink this nectar! Sweet and peachy made this another delightful pairing with the flourless chocolate cake and raspberry soufflé! Several “Old Vegas” desserts have been added to the menu, such as Baked Alaska and Cherries Jubilee.

Two more ingredients go into creating the entire dining experience and that is atmosphere and service. A fine dining restaurant should be relaxing and enjoyable and that is exactly what Canal Street delivers. Also keep in mind that this would be a wonderful place to celebrate Valentine’s Day!

Canal Street hours are Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 702.365.7111.

The Scintas Are High Energy and they are BACK! Suncoast Showroom!

The Scintas Bring Their High-Energy Music and Comedy Act Back to the Suncoast Showroom Valentine’s Weekend - February 13 and 14

The Scintas, Buffalo, New York-raised brothers Joey and Frankie, sister Chrissi and “Irish Scinta” Peter O’Donnell, entertain, surprise and provide an anything-but-typical performance filled with music, comedy and impersonations. Their Las Vegas act, which got its start in a bar owned by former Buffalo Bill and present-day ESPN commentator Paul McGuire, includes “guest” appearances by Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, Johnny Mathis, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and others, singing songs audiences love.

Collectively, they’ve dazzled sell-out crowds in Las Vegas showrooms and on the road. Individually, each member of The Scintas has enjoyed a stunning rise to fame. Frankie, recognized as a musical prodigy, appeared on The Merv Griffin Show at age 11. He plays the keyboard on the show and is also a master guitar, mandolin, banjo, drum and bass player. Joey, who originally intended to become a music teacher, developed and mastered his talent for comedy and impressions. The baby of the family, Chrissi, is known for her stunning renditions of the big ballads. Although not related, Peter O’Donnell has been a member of the close-knit clan since joining The Scintas in 1988. He has played gigs with more than 700 bands.

A family on stage and off, The Scintas often welcome their mother Mary Scinta, affectionately known as “Mama Scinta,” and their brother Tony, a retired Buffalo homicide detective, and his family, as special guests at their shows.

Tickets are now available starting from $29.95, plus tax. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 702.636.7075, or by visiting www.suncoastcasino.com.
