Carlos Santana fights World Hunger! What you can do also..

Yesterday Carlos Santana visited Three Square Food Bank to talk about his partnership with the Vegas food bank and World Hunger Year (WHY) to help end hunger. Santana along with Noreen Springstead, director of marketing and fundraising for WHY and Julie Murray, CEO and president of Three Square Food Bank, spoke at press conference to bring awareness to this important cause. Santana then went on a tour of the facility and thanked the volunteers on-site, who give their time and energy to win the fight against childhood hunger.

During his Nov. 11-22 performances, concertgoers who bring five non-perishable food items or make a $5 donation to Three Square Food Bank will receive a $5 gift certificate valid at Ago or Rare 120 restaurant at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Wayne Newton gives back for Veteran's Day! W/"The Bachelor Andy Baldwin

Last night, more than 100 veterans from around the country including Andy Baldwin of the hit ABC show “The Bachelor,” spent their evening at Wayne Newton’s all new show, Once Before I Go, at Tropicana Las Vegas. Newton, who is Chairman of the USO Celebrity Circle and has entertained our troops in every conflict since and including Vietnam, recognized them last night and asked them to stand if they were able. Those who could, did, and an indescribable warmth spread through the theater as Wayne thanked them sincerely for their dedication to our country. After the show Wayne met with each one of the Veterans and thanked them personally. The Veterans will be attending lunch today at Newton’s Ranch, "Casa de Shenandoah."

The annual Duel in the Desert for IMCA Modifieds began tonight at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The opening-night schedule was expanded to 20 heat races thanks to a record entry list of 264 cars (from 24 states and three Canadian provinces). The previous record for entries - 219 - was set in 2008.

Home Sweet Home for T-rex Known as 'Samson'

Shortly following Bonhams & Butterfields' successful auction of Natural History at The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas, 'Samson,' one of the largest known Tyrannosaurus rex specimens ever discovered, has found a new home, after what can only be described as tremendous interest from institutional parties and private buyers worldwide.

Thomas Lindgren, Co-Director of Natural History, reported that: "Bonhams & Butterfields was very pleased by the post-auction interest and ultimate sale price, and we expect 'Samson' to be displayed publicly in the future."

The rare 66-million year old Tyrannosaurus skeleton - dubbed "Samson" - is one of the three most complete specimens to have been discovered. Native to North America, Tyrannosaurus rex is recognized as the 'Tyrant Lizard King' and is the most famous of the behemoths of the "Age of Dinosaurs." This rare example from the Cretaceous period was excavated near Buffalo, South Dakota over 15 years ago.

Prepared by scientists and technicians at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, "Samson's" skull is considered to be one of the most complete Tyrannosaurus skulls in existence. The entire specimen contains approximately 170 bones, more than 50% of the total bone count of an entire skeleton.
