Back to School Bash - Contribute for the kids!

Back to School Bash readies kids for school School Supplies Drive held in conjunction with event Aug. 21 It’s hard to believe, but it’s almost time for kids to head back to school. Whitney Recreation Center will host the Fourth Annual Back to School Bash to help kids – and their parents – get back to the books from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 21 at 5712 E. Missouri Ave. near Boulder Highway . The center also will be collecting school supplies, which will be given out during the Back to School Bash, through Aug. 20. The event is free, but pre-registration is required. The Back to School Bash will feature great resources for parents and lots of fun for kids. Some of the activities and services such as haircuts, hairstyles, music, face painting and a limited school supply giveaway will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Supercuts, Marinello’s School of Beauty, Whitney Library, Visiting Angels, Hot 97.5 FM, Custom Eyes, Nevada Covering Kids and Families, Three Square and Amerigroup Community Care are all partners in the event. School supplies needed include crayons, pencils, loose leaf paper, notebooks, folders, pencil cases, erasers, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, scissors, glue, glue sticks, backpacks, rulers, markers and anything needed to prepare a child for the coming school year. All contributions can be dropped off at Whitney Recreation Center through Aug. 20. LAVO & TAO Celebrity Wrap Up - who was there?

Saturday Natasha Henstridge and her fiancé Darius Campbell share August 15th as their birthday and decided to celebrate early in Vegas with close friends at TAO. Henstridge, who is turning 35, wore a hot pink mini dress, which she dubbed her “Vegas Dress”. The couple and six friends dined on TAO specialties including Satay Bass and Crispy Rice, along with TAO-Tini cocktails. After dinner they headed to the nightclub for a VIP table on the dance floor where they danced all night. Also, spotted at TAO was Grammy award winner Estelle, who dined with her friends and crew before heading to LA to appear on The Tonight Show. Orange Chicken and Stir Fry Salmon were favorites of the table. Gossip Girl star Jessica Szohr spent the day at TAO beach helping her brother Nick celebrate his 21st birthday. They drank Mojitos and a TAO birthday fortune cookie helped mark the celebration. They continued the party with dinner at TAO, feasting on Sushi and Sea Bass before adjourning to the nightclub where they partied the night away. Szohr’s only disappointment was that beau and Gossip Girl co-star Ed Westwick couldn’t make the trip due to a last minute filming obligation. At LAVO, actress Ali Landry was overheard raving about the food at the Italian hot spot, noting that she will return every time she is in Vegas. After dinner she had a quick nightcap in the club. Also spotted upstairs at LAVO Nightclub was Star Trek actor John Cho, who was part of a bachelor party that took over a table on the dance floor where Ketel One cocktails flowed. Tracy Ayala, who owns the William Rast clothing line with business partner and childhood friend Justin Timberlake, was also seen at LAVO. Ayala and friends made a second stop at TAO later in the night. Friday Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski, the newly engaged couple from ABC’s The Bachelor, dined on LAVO’s expansive terrace. The duo kept close and looked happy and in love while enjoying a bottle of wine along with Scallops, Sea Bass and Pasta, leaving around 1 am. Also dining at LAVO was actress Natasha Henstridge. Joined by a few friends, the group had an earlier dinner of Italian favorites. Actress Francia Riasa dined at the hot spot as well, sipping on Sicilian Sun specialty cocktails and enjoying Lobster and the Kobe Meatball with friends before heading upstairs to the nightclub. Over at TAO, actress and former Miss USA Ali Landry was spotted having dinner at the Asian Bistro.

A goodbye to a great neighborhood hang out! Ruth's Chris on W. Flamingo not only offered fabulous food but the atmosphere was fantastic! Local celebrities and world famous celebrities have graced the doors of this fabulous eating establishment.

Alas the doors will close tonight at this location...but there is a bright spot! The Paradise location will continue and will be offering great specials and events! We had dinner there last night and it was fabulous! Steaks that are juicy and brought to the table sizzling hot! TENDER! They now have a special that for $39 - $49 you can choose soup or salad, your choice of steak and one side order and you also get desert! Not bad!!

So goodbye West Flamingo location, but here's to stopping by the Paradise location more frequently!

Usher hosted Vegas Magazine's July/August Men's Issue Party at Playboy Club on Friday night (8.7.09) inside the Palms Casino Resort. The stylish recording artist is the first man to grace the magazine’s cover and was dressed in a vest, jeans and fedora. Seated at Hugh Hefner’s VIP table inside the club with a group of friends, he sipped champagne and tequila throughout the private event. Usher was also presented with the coveted Playboy Key by two Playboy Bunnies. Other celebrity key holders include George Clooney, Matt Damon, Josh Duhamel, Paris Hilton, Brad Pitt, Gwen Stefani and many more. Usher and friends headed to Moon Nightclub later in the evening where they continued to party at a VIP table near the dance floor. Also spotted inside Moon and Rain Nightclub was professional poker player Michael Matusow (aka The Mouth). He was joined by a lady in red and onlookers said he was not wearing his standard black-framed glasses. Earlier in the afternoon, guests were treated to a wicked Ditch Friday at the Palms Pool & Bungalows with adult film star Kristen Price. Price was joined by five friends and sipped Ketel One and lemonade poolside. She later hosted the evening inside Moon nightclub.
