The 80's are back!! The Suncoast presents Whip It and Loveshack!

Celebrating the nostalgia and new wave nature of the ‘80s music scene, Suncoast Hotel and Casino has added two “totally rad” and popular local bands to the entertainment lineup for the summer—The Whip Its and Loveshack.

Performing ‘80s hits such as Blondie’s “One Way Or Another” and Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl,” The Whip Its have made a name for themselves in Las Vegas with their blend music and witty narrative. The group is made up of a unique ensemble of performers including vocal duo Dieter (inspired by “Sprockets” on Saturday Night Live) and Ivana Hump, a Euro dominatrix that commands the stage (and the attention of the audience) with a whip and leather ensemble. Completing the retro vibe, the singers are backed by a full band dressed as “Devo drones.”
Formed in 1995, in demand ‘80s tribute band Loveshack brings their high-energy act to the Suncoast. Singing all of the great ‘80s tunes by Human League, The Go Go’s, Madonna, Duran Duran, Soft Cell and New Order. Having performed in many hotel casinos on the Strip, Loveshack has been recognized by the readers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal and their “Best of Las Vegas” list, voted “Best Band” by the readers of Las Vegas City Life and voted “Favorite Band” by readers of What’s On. The five-member group takes on physical and costumed characteristics of recognizable ‘80s singers such as Devo, Adam Ant, Slash, Madonna and Mike D. from the Beastie Boys, offering a visual and musical representation of the decade.
Beginning July 9, The Whip Its will perform every Friday and Loveshack will perform every Saturday from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Suncoast Lounge. Starting August 4 and throughout the remainder of the summer, both groups move poolside from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., The Whip Its on Friday and Loveshack on Saturday.

The 8th Annual Girls’ Day Out “Island Style” presented by CBS Radio Las Vegas’ Mix 94.1, 98.5 KLUC and 100.5 Jack-FM is back at the South Point Events Center on

Saturday, July 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with 100 businesses participating and over 5,000 women in attendance. Admission to the event is free and open to the public.


The first 500 women when the event opens at 10 a.m. will receive a free island lei, a “Romance” bag from Party Gals, Bridal Spectacular ticket, a Go Girl Energy Drink as well a Harvest Festival Ticket.


Girls’ Day Out Island Style will include the following events:

· American Storm, Male Cabaret Revue, appearing at the V Theatre in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, will perform on the Findlay Volkswagen main stage at 12:30 p.m.

· Frank Marino and other cast members from “Divas Las Vegas”, appearing at the Imperial Palace , will appear on the main stage at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

· Two of ABC Daytime top leading men, Jacob Young “JR Chandler” from All My Children & Jason Thompson “Dr. Patrick Crane” from General Hospital , will be signing autographs.

· MetroPCS will be hosting Casting Calls for the next season of The Bachelor.

· Two Thumbs Up, a steel drum band, will be playing island style music along with Tahitian dancers.

· Bridal Spectacular will be hosting a fashion show.

· The Go Girl Energy Stage will have presentations by Jazzercise, The Gun Store Self Defense, Stripper 101 and L.A. Boxing Anthem.

Studio 54...Worlds Collide!! MMA, Naughty by Nature and B-Day Cake!

The worlds of hip-hop and MMA converged last night at Studio 54 at MGM Grand to celebrate the birthday of legendary mixed-martial artist Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva. Inside the venue, the ecstatic partygoers danced to beats by DJ Skribble and honored the fighter as he took the stage to receive his birthday cake. Naughty by Nature performed after the birthday celebration to the electrified crowd at Las Vegas’ most iconic nightclub.

Wanderlei Silva hit the red carpet in style, arriving with an entourage that included fellow UFC fighter Dan Hardy, UFC cutman Jacob “Stitch” Duran and Xyience spokesmodels Amber Nichole and Amanda Corey. Wearing a Xyience button-down shirt and jeans, Wanderlei received a huge ovation from the plethora of fans trying to grab a glimpse of their hero. Wanderlei took the time to greet fans and pose for pictures with them, a sign of his gratitude for their support and devotion. Supporting him this evening was his wife Tea Silva, who looked radiant in a gold blouse and black shorts.

Sporting his trademark mohawk, Dan Hardy also wore a black button-down shirt paired with his paint-splattered converse sneakers. Accompanied by Elizabeth Holloway, Hardy also greeted fans and took photos after walking the red carpet. The family affair continued when Jacob “Stitch” Duran walked the carpet in his black button-down shirt, flanked by his two daughters Angela Hunter and Carla Duran.

The last group to hit the carpet was legendary hip-hop trio Naughty by Nature. Vin Rock hit the carper first wearing DJ-inspired designer t-shirt and baggy white shorts. Treach walked the carpet sporting New York Yankees Jersey and jeans, topped with a baseball cap, while DJ Kay Gee joined his two colleagues on the carpet wearing a pink polo shirt and jeans.

Wanderlei took center stage shortly after midnight as Studio 54 honored the fighter with a one-of-a-kind birthday cake to commemorate the occasion. Led by the world-renowned DJ Skribble, the partygoers at Studio 54 sang happy birthday to the MMA star as he beamed on stage, with the 54 Dancers surrounding him to help celebrate. Overjoyed, Wanderlei made sure to shake the hand of every fan that could get close to the stage.

Following the birthday celebration, hip-hop pioneers Naughty by Nature took the stage at the Vegas hotspot for the myriad fans that packed the nightclub. Playing hits like “Feel me Flow,” “O.P.P.” and “Hip Hop Hooray,” the Grammy-winning trio got the crowd jumping as Treach took off his Yankees jersey and eventually tore off his tak-top. The performance was highlighted with a tribute to the late Tupac Shakur, as the group played some of his songs and remembered one of hip-hop’s greatest artists.

Only in Vegas!! Snow on the Strip!!

Caesars Palace and Coors Light teamed up to provide the coolest venue in Las Vegas to celebrate Independence weekend. The outdoor Roman Plaza in front of Caesars Palace was transformed into the ultimate cold zone, complete with a four-story ski jump with demonstrations by professional snowboarders and skiers, a walk-through ice lounge and live music on Saturday. With daytime temperatures reaching higher than 100 degrees Fahrenheit, Caesars Palace provided an oasis in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. Guests 21 and older were among the first in the country to enjoy an ice cold Coors Light Silver Bullet Aluminum Pint. On Sunday, July 4, the Roman Plaza provided the perfect backdrop for viewing the Caesars Palace fireworks display.
