Fun For Kids! Surf's Up At Downtown Container Park!

Surf’s up with the return of Downtown Container Park’s Kid’s Camp series! It’ll be fun in the sun for ‘Beach Day’ at Container Park with a tsunami of activities, salty snacks and refreshing water entertainment!

On Saturday, August 18th, take a trip under the boardwalk and have some fun! For $10 per child, beach day goers can cool off with wet and wild outdoor activities, snacks and crafts. Kids can slip and slide through an impressively sized inflatable water obstacle course or soak up the last rays of summer freedom before school starts! If obstacles and games weren’t enough, adults and children alike can take their chances in Container Park’s ‘Beach Day’ dunk tank!

Ay Caramba! Tailgate Happy Hour Coming To Pancho's Mexican Restaurant

Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant, located in Downtown Summerlin, is kicking off football season with a tailgate happy hour and signature tequila offerings on Saturdays and Sundays, beginning Saturday, Sept. 8.

Pancho’s will broadcast college and professional football games throughout the spacious cantina on each of its eight, eighty-inch, high definition televisions during football season. On Saturday, Aug. 4, American rapper, record producer and actor Rich the Kid delivered an unforgettable performance at Hyde Bellagio in Las Vegas alongside Australian DJ, Saint Clair. Following an appearance on the red carpet, Rich the Kid and his entourage made their way to a luxurious VIP table as Hyde’s sexy servers greeted them with flashing lights and giant letters spelling out “R-I-C-H.”

The nighttime revelers immediately went wild when the emcee announced, “Give it up for Rich the Kid!” Later, the iconic rapper took the stage and delivered an explosive performance to the fountain-side hotspot, hyping up fans as he created an electrifying atmosphere with famous hits including “Plug Walk” and “New Freezer.” Afterwards, Australian songwriter and DJ, Saint Clair took over the turntables and delivered a high-powered set for the packed Vegas nightclub keeping club-goers jumping well into the morning hours.

Autograph Session With Kevin Harvick & Clint Bowers Coming Up On 9/13

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series stars Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer will be the featured guests at a Sept. 13 autograph session before the Star Nursery 100 NASCAR K&N Series West race at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Harvick and Bowyer – who have combined to win nine MENCS races this season – will be joined by a number of popular drivers from NASCAR’s top three series at the autograph session, which will run from 6-7 p.m. Pacific Time inside the Dirt Track’s ticket gates. More drivers will be added to the autograph session in the coming weeks.

The Star Nursery 100 – the K&N Series West’s first race on dirt – begins at 8 p.m. and kicks off a full weekend of racing at America’s Racing Showplace.

Following the Dirt Track race, action will then shift to the superspeedway with the World of Westgate 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event on Friday, Sept. 14, a NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday and the South Point 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday. Harvick, the 2014 Cup Series champion, will go for a Las Vegas sweep on Sunday as the South Point 400 kicks off the 2018 MENCS playoffs.

Star Nursery – which began its operation in 1983 and has seven of its 15 locations in Las Vegas – was title sponsor of the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series race at The Bullring in 2001. Southern Nevada’s premier garden center, Star Nursery also sponsored Las Vegas-born Kurt Busch during his NASCAR Southwest Tour Series championship season in 1999.

The addition of the 100-lap K&N Pro Series West event gives the LVMS Dirt Track a powerful trio of events for 2018, along with the World of Outlaws FVP Outlaw Showdown Feb. 28-March 1 and the 21st annual Duel in the Desert Nov. 7-10. Top-tier NASCAR drivers are expected to be among the entries in the 100-lap race, and race organizers expect to announce specifics in the coming weeks.

The K&N West Series brought races to the 1.5-mile speedway from 1996-2001 and to The Bullring from 2001-03, but the Star Nursery 100 will mark the first K&N event at the LVMS Dirt Track. The evening will also include a 25-lap IMCA Western RaceSaver Sprint Series race as well.

Fans who have purchased 2018 annual passes to both LVMS NASCAR weekends and patrons who have bought weekend passes for either of the track’s tripleheaders are eligible for discounted Star Nursery 100 tickets for $25. Star Nursery 100 tickets are available to the general public for $35 apiece, and ticket prices will increase on Thursday, Sept. 6.

Spend An Afternoon With Tamales & Tequila At World Famous Hussong's Mexican Cantina

Oh Las Vegas! The city of pool parties, drinking and nightclubs! Fortunately Vegas does have plenty of other fun events to entertain you. Sure you have ordered tamales at your favorite Mexican restaurant, but have you ever tried to make one? Get LUCKY at Hussong's and learn how to make your own.

Available by appointment only you can learn to make tempting tantalizing Tamales from Masterchef Noe Alcala at Hussong’s  Cantina Las Vegas located in the Shoppes at Mandalay Bay. You will learn about the history of the tamale which dates back to 3,500 B.C. Tamales are present at  every special occasion that includes Mexican cooking, such as Birthdays, weddings, and Baptisms and more. One can only image before current times how hard it was to harvest the corn, ground it up and make it into fresh masa. However now it is as easy as picking up a bag of corn meal flour at the grocery store or speciality store. And now you can also use a mixer to mix the masa dough or you can do it by hand. But before you start this step make sure that your corn husks are soaking in hot water to ensure that they are flexible enough to wrap the tamales. This takes around two hours. You can also pick up the corn husks at the grocery store.

Once your masa is mixed and a little gritty, you can ensure that is is ready to be used, put a little bit in a glass of cold water and it should float. I would suggest you do a few practice tamales before you start wrapping and steaming. As for the filling you can choose a wide variety, but the most popular are chicken, pork and turkey. You can simmer these with water, salt, garlic and onion until tender. 

The most common sauces to use are salsa verde, salsa roja and mole that you will need to prepare in advance. You can research online or in Mexican cookbook how to make the sauce that you enjoy. And yes you can buy canned sauce but your tamales will be tastier if you make your own!

Now everything is ready! Remove the corn husk from the water and pat them dry with a towel. Take one husk and spread about ¼ cup of the prepared masa in the upper center of the husk. Add two tablespoons of sauce and some shredded or small chunks of meat. Carefully wrap everything inside the corn husk by folding one long side of the husk over the masa so that is completely covers the masa. Fold the remaining long sider over and then fold the narrow end under and then tie with a long strip of corn husk. 

With all your tamales assembled it is time to steam them! You can buy a steamer on Amazon or at your local cooking shop. They should run around between $25-$45. When you finish with the class you will know all about how to make Tamales along with some inside “steaming” tricks!     

Of course what would Mexican cooking be without Tequila! With your class comes a Tequila tasting. We had four and they were all very diverse!

Aromas of citrus, caramel, butter, cooked agave, and sage are the beginning of a pleasingly balanced and very unique tasting experience. Fortaleza Reposado has it’s own distinct character, and is not like any other tequila.

Flavors include cooked agave, citrus, vanilla, apple, earth, and cinnamon. The finish is long and rich, delicately spicy, and it has an oily texture that make this a joy to drink.
