Coming to Las Vegas? Flamingo has stylish refurbished rooms!

Flamingo Las Vegas has announced plans to refurbish 2,307 hotel rooms transforming the resort’s standard rooms into stylish and contemporary accommodations. The all-new FAB rooms are on-sale now for guest arrivals beginning January 2, 2012.

Modern décor will encounter elements of simple luxury with splashes of signature Flamingo pink and warm, wood-toned furnishings and flooring designed to create a residential feel. Contemporary chaise lounges, patterned rugs and vintage Vegas framed artwork will create a stylish appeal while upgraded beds with ultra-soft pillow-top mattresses, plush linens and faux fur throws offer ultimate comfort. FAB rooms will also come equipped with 32-inch flat screen Plasma televisions. Rooms start at $85 per night.

Designed by Las Vegas-based firm, Westar Architects, the refurbishment is currently underway. The first 500 rooms will be available Jan. 2 with plans to complete approximately 100 rooms every 11 days. Completion of the FAB rooms is planned for late 2012 and will conclude the final phase of standard room upgrades, adding to the award-winning Flamingo GO Room build-out, which began in 2006 with 1,032 rooms and suites.

Located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, Flamingo Las Vegas is a true desert oasis. Movie Premiere in Las Vegas! "The Keeper of The Keys!" Coming on 12/8

Blending unique expert segments with a relatable and funny fictional story designed to take the “hell” out of self-help, “The Keeper of the Keys” will premiere Dec. 8 during a red carpet event at the all-new Plaza Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas at 7 p.m.

“The Keeper of the Keys” stars Jack Canfield, co-creator of the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” franchise and author of “The Success Principles”; Dr. John Gray, Ph.D., author of “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus;” and Marci Shimoff, author of “Happy for No Reason,” “Love for No Reason” and “Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul.” The movie also features 15 experts, including personal development speakers, coaches and authors from around the world, each sharing deeply personal stories of challenges, success and overcoming adversity.

The film’s director and editor Scott Cervine portrays Michael, an everyman who has had a rough couple of months. One night, Michael finds himself embarking on an incredible journey where he encounters experts who can help him regain control of his life. Through his journey, viewers are introduced to seven keys that can improve their lives: appreciation, harmony, faith, courage, passion, empathy and vibration.

The movie was written and produced by award-winning author Robin Jay. Jay began her career in the field of personal development with her first book, “The Art of the Business Lunch” (Career Press), currently in 12 languages. Later, as president of the Las Vegas Convention Speakers Bureau and its parent company, TwoBirds, Inc., Jay published the best-selling anthology series, “The Power of the Platform,” which features motivational stories from more than 60 professional speakers, including Jack Canfield, Brian Tracy, Les Brown, Keith Ferrazzi, Marci Shimoff and other leaders in the industry.

“Ever since the success of ‘The Secret’ self-help films have followed the same formula of delivering endless sound bites from dozens of ‘talking heads,’” Jay said. “I wanted to do something more entertaining and compelling. For that, a movie needs to be funny. I think we have to engage the viewers before we can empower them. This movie is designed to take the ‘hell’ out of self-help by appealing to viewers whether or not they are fans of personal development.”

Following the screening, an after party will be held in the Plaza’s Triple Crown Ballroom and will feature a special “Key-tini” cocktail, Gigi’s Cupcakes, live music and dancing as well as an appearance from Steve Connolly as Elvis.

Tickets for the premiere are $100 each, or two for $150, and includes a walk down the red carpet, opportunities to meet the stars and experts, as well as admission to the after party. Limited VIP tickets priced at $200 include admission to special VIP sections during the screening and after party. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada.

Local Figure skaters perform "The Magical Snowman & The Snow Queens"

The Las Vegas area community is invited to performances of “The Magical Snowman and the Snow Queens,” an annual winter holiday show that features local figure skaters of all ages. The original show follows the story of a family of snow queens who live in Alaska. When one goes missing, the family embarks on a journey to save her from an enemy who is also threatening the entire season of winter. The queens use holiday values of peace, love and kindness in an attempt to save the day. The musical variety of the show ranges from Michael Jackson to “Jingle Bells.” In addition to an ice spectacular, the show will collect food to benefit the Salvation Army.

General admission is $9, but a discount of $2 is offered in exchange for a donation of at least three canned goods.

Representatives of Flightlinez, Help of Southern Nevada and Chet Buchanan and on air personalities from 98.5 KLUC will be on hand to answer questions and get the fun started with the first ever pre-toy drive fundraiser in the 13-year history of the state’s largest toy drive taking place Dec. 1 – 12, 2011.

Flightlinez and the Fremont Street Experience will donate all their revenues from zipline rides on Tuesday, Nov. 29 from noon to midnight to the 98.5 KLUC’s Chet Buchanan & the Morning Zoo Toy Drive benefitting Help of Southern Nevada.

Flightlinez is committed to serving the Las Vegas community by hosting chartable fundraisers throughout the year. In October, Flightlinez and Fremont Street Experience donated nearly $13,000 to Susan G. Komen and have donated more than $120,000 to local charities and community groups since launching the new charitable initiative in February.

Nevada Aids Project "Life's A Ball" at Club Nikki! Coming Up!

Nevada AIDS Project will present a star-studded event for “Life’s A Ball: A Celebration of Life and Journey Towards the Cure” at Club Nikki inside Tropicana Las Vegas on Thursday, Dec. 1. The charitable evening, in support of World AIDS Day, will begin at 6 p.m. with performances to begin at 7 p.m.
