“Whiskey Wednesday” at Andre's - Scottish Lowlands tastings!

Whiskey Tasting has never been finer than the great “Whiskey Wednesday” evenings at Andre’s Cigar Lounge on the Las Vegas Strip.

Packed with whiskey and scotch lovers at all levels of “expertise,” these Whiskey Tasting Events take place the first Wednesday of the month at Las Vegas’ renowned Cigar Lounge on the 2nd floor of Andre’s Restaurant in the Monte Carlo Casino.

Given that Las Vegas’ first Celebrity Chef Andre´Rochat has avidly collected whiskeys, cognacs and armagnacs for more than 40 years, you can be assured that these renowned Las Vegas Whiskey Tasting Events always feature the world’s finest – and rarest – selections. For August’s “Whiskey Wednesday at Andre’s,” we’ll be tasting through the Scottish Lowlands, with Single-Malts from Auchentoshan, Glenkinchie, and a specialty Auchentoshan bottling from Duncan Taylor.

Auchentoshan Single Malt Scotch Whisky is produced near Glasgow and is nicknamed “the breakfast whisky” because of its sweeter, fruitier nature. Established in 1800, Auchentoshan is the only distillery in Scotland to have a third still. The triple distillation creates a very smooth single malt scotch. At the same time, the triple “dip” takes the spirit from the average 70% proof to about 81%, creating a subtle whisky that then matures beautifully in oak.

Auchentoshan’s 16- year and 18-year old scotches have received double gold medals, and its “Three Wood” won “the best Scotch Whisky and Cigar Combination” at a recent World Spirits Competition in San Francisco.

Glenkinchie is produced in East Lothian, Scotland, about 15 miles from Edinburgh. Set in rolling farmland, the distillery is one of only three remaining Lowland malt whiskies in production in the world. With origins that date back to 1825, the founding brothers, John and George Rate, renamed the distillery to Glenkinchie in 1837, and it’s never missed a year of production. Glenkinchie features a 10-year, a 12-year and a 14-year-0ld Distiller’s Edition that is double matured in sherry casks. Noted for its fresh and light character, Glenkinchie is considered a phenomenal introduction to the world of Single Malt Scotch.

Orleans Arena Hosts World Hip Hop Dance Championship Finals

The Orleans Arena hosts the 11th annual finals for the World Hip Hop Dance Championship, organized by Hip Hop International, the creators of “America’s Best Dance Crew.”  At the same time the world’s best athletes are competing at the Olympics in London, the world’s best street dancers from 40 nations will bring their best moves to Las Vegas to vie for the most coveted title in street dance, World Hip Hop Dance Champion.   More than 2,000 of the world's top street dancers will come together for the Finals.  World Champions from Japan and New Zealand will return for a chance to defend their titles, gold medals and $25,000 in cash and prizes.

Brandi Glanville hosted the 3rd annual luau at TAO Beach on Saturday with Hpnotiq Harmonie.  The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star brought along her “mommy friends” and they all left their men and kids at home while they escaped to Vegas for the party.

She toasted her friends with Hpnotiq Harmonie and cheered pool goers on as they competed in a limbo contest at the hot spot.  A handsome male model was on hand to feed her cupcakes and she danced around soaking in the sun. The reality star shared that this season of the show will be the craziest season of any in the history of the franchise.

Saturday night Glanville and friends dined at LAVO and then hit the club for Stereo Saturdays, which featured the return of UK songstress and Jay-Z protégé Rita Ora, fresh off the success of her new U.K. single "RIP" and U.S. single "How We Do", which just landed atop the Billboard Dance chart this week.  The gorgeous singer wowed in a floor length white ensemble topped with a pink leather jacket by Phillip Lim and was joined by a group of friends including Rob Kardashian. After dining at LAVO Restaurant, Ora made her way to the nightclub and surprised the crowd with a spirited and flawless performance of her hits that had the crowd cheering and singing along with hands in the air.

At Marquee NFL legend Jerry Rice was spotted taking in the sounds of DJ Krewella from a VIP table in the main room.

Sunday, July 29, electro-funk duo Chromeo played to a sun kissed crowd during Project WET at WET REPUBLIC. As part of their residency in Las Vegas, Chromeo captivated hundreds of bikini-clad partygoers with a special set showcasingtheir eclectic songs and rare talent. Dynamic pair, P-Thugg (Patrick Gemayel) and Dave 1 (David Macklovitch), manned the decks as they spun their unique sounds. Keeping the energy high and guests dancing under the hot summer sun, Chromeo played hits such as “Hot Mess,” “I’m Not Contagious,” “Night By Night” and also threw in remixes by other electronic artists including Dave 1’s brother and fellow DJ, A-Trak.
