Legendary Restaurant The Palm Re-Opens With Delectable Dishes

Original The Palm Interior
Las Vegas! I first arrived in this town in 1989 from the cosmopolitan town of Albuquerque, New Mexico. At that time Las Vegas was still holding onto the old ways of The Sands, The Dunes and the Stardust. No huge celebrity Chef eateries and the buffets were still $1.99 to $9.99 which was considered gourmet! Then in 1993 a wonderful exciting restaurant came to Caesar’s Palace. Yes The Las Vegas Palm opened.

The original The Palm restaurant opened in 1926 in New York city by Pio Bozzi and John Ganzi and became a mecca for celebrities seeking consistently good service and  delicious steaks. If you have visited one of the restaurants you will see their famous Caricatures of the famous diners who have visited each location. This time honored tradition started because the Manhattan location was in close proximity to King Features Syndicate which employed a large number of cartoonists. In order to pay for their meals the cartoonists would draw their own creations on the walls of The Palm. At the New York location you will find original caricatures of Popeye, Batman, Beetle Bailey, Hagar the Horrible and many more. In 1995 the walls were professionally restored to keep these treasured walls intact for future generations or restaurant guests to enjoy.
New Dining Room
Now move along to September 2016 and a revamped and redecorated The Palm has re-opened. Along one wall is a brand new colorful mural which depicts the Las Vegas strip complete with a rendition of the famous Mirage volcano erupting. As for caricatures here at the Las Vegas location you will find on the walls such notables as Mayor Oscar Goodman and many celebs from the Caesar’s family of  entertainers such as Celine Dion and Rod Stewart.

Along with the new dining room some new items were added to the famous The Palm menu. Items that will delight your taste buds and have you visiting The Palm again and again

Applewood Smoked Nueske Bacon

Calamari
whether here in Las Vegas or in your town. Fabulous dishes such as delicious decadent tasty Thick-cut Applewood Smoked Nueske Bacon which is the “beluga of bacon.”  Sliced thickly with a maple-glazed house-made steak sauce to dip in, your taste buds will explode with the richness of this smoked bacon. Don’t forget to try the Coconut-Crusted Sea Scallops served with watermelon radish and jicama slaw, a rich seafood dish that has the warm rich flavor of scallops. If Calamari is a favorite appetizer of yours then you are in for a treat! At The Palm the Calamari is dusted with  cornmeal and is served with pickled lemon and peppers and has a tasty marinara sauce for dipping. Tender and cooked to perfection this calamari will become one of your favorite appetizers.
Jumbo Crab Grilled Romaine Hearts Salad
If salad is one of your must haves for dinner then you simply need to try the Jumbo Crab over Grilled Romaine Hearts! A robust tasty salad that is large enough to be shared by four people. This salad has fresh crab with roasted red and yellow pepper, goat cheese, caramelized walnuts and is drizzled with a lemon vinaigrette. The flavors in this salad blend together wonderfully and is a delicious addition to the menu.

The Palm since it opened in New York became famous for it’s wonderful steaks and meats.  In the 1930’s when you ordered a steak a trip to the butcher was made and then your steak was cooked to perfection. Other than running to the butcher not much has changed with the quality of meats and dishes served. The 14-Day-Aged Duroc Pork Porterhouse is served with a brandy mushroom demi-glaze. Melt in your mouth tender pork slow cooked to perfection is a mystical dish prepared perfectly. And the mushrooms add an earthiness to this dish.
My Friend Bill & I when served the Surf & Turf
Surf and Turf

Now for the pièce de résistance The Palm Classic Surf and Turf. Take a ½ Broiled Jumbo Nova Scotia Lobster (4 pounds) and serve it with a ½ Prime New York Strip (18 ounces) served with melted butter and fresh lemon. What else could you ever possibly want?  Tender juicy lobster with delicate succulent steak, a decadent mouth watering treat that truly deserves its place of honor on the menu. When paired with classic sides such as Creamed Spinach made with  ½ and ½ this meal is truly a memorable dining experience.

Warm Cinnamon Sugar Donuts
Wait...don’t forget dessert! The warm Cinnamon Sugar Donut holes served with chocolate and raspberry sauce are served piping hot and are a delicious end to your meal. Along with your dinner there's a wide variety of wines and cocktails available. If you are a lucky winner at the tables you might want to be a big spender and splurge on the Penfold’s ‘Grange” which is a 2011 Shiraz from the Barossa Valley and will only set you back $1,350 per bottle.

A dinner at The Palm is an experience and your meal will indeed be memorable! You can also join the 837 Club and be more of a Palm family member!  Once you become a member, you'll receive Club Points every time you visit The Palm that can be redeemed for special rewards ranging from a complimentary dessert to a weekend getaway for two. A one-time fee of $25 earns you membership and a $25 gift card towards your next Palm meal or happy hour bar visit.

Many thanks to our gracious The Palm staff including GM Lawrence Close, Executive Chef Kiko Ojeda!
