The Container Park Gets The Holidays Started! Santa & Social Media Contest!

Kicking off the holidays right, families can head to the entrance of Container Park at noon to watch Santa arrive on a fire truck. The truck will be on display until 1 p.m. for photo opportunities. Following Santa’s grand arrival, children can decorate festive ornaments  to hang on the park’s Christmas tree from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a donation of $2 per ornament is suggested to help raise money during the holiday season.

Starting at 1 p.m., Chef Donald Lemperle of Vegenation, Chef Stacey Dougan from Simply Pure and Shane Stuart from Grass Roots will teach shoppers different healthy and tasty holiday food options for the whole family.

Capping off the evening, kids are invited to use their imaginations and decorate recycled cardboard boxes like train cars they can sit while watching the holiday favorite, The Polar Express, which starts at 5 p.m. A $5 donation per box is suggested to help raise money for the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Nevada.

In addition to the day’s activities, Container Park will hold a social media contest with the winner receiving $250 in Container Park bucks. To enter, individuals must stop by Container Park, find the photo op for the day and take a photo to post along with the hashtag: #shopsmalldtlv. More details will be available at the park on Saturday.

Also taking place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., all local Yelpers are invited to the shopping center where they can check-in to receive a complimentary shopping bag and wristband which will entitle them to over two dozen specials and discounts throughout the downtown area.  Please see the Yelp website for more details.
