Bruno Mars On Stage |
On New Year’s Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 31), The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas closed the books on another monumental year, proving why the luxury resort remains one of the hottest spots in the nation. Grammy Award-winning recording artist Bruno Mars headlined the evening with a show-stopping performance to remember inside the resort’s new performance and entertainment space, The Chelsea.
Mars kicked off the second night of his eight-show run at The Chelsea, igniting a sold-out crowd with his popular hit “Gorilla,” off his latest album Unorthodox Jukebox. The Chelsea’s avant-garde approach to entertainment and up-close setting brought guests just feet away from one of People’s sexiest men alive while he sang “Billionaire,” “Treasure” and “Marry You.”
As midnight approached, Mars started taking requests from the crowd, singing covers of “Jailhouse Rock,” “Hey, Soul Sister” and more before leading a countdown with his fans. At midnight, streamers rained over the crowd as Mars launched into “We Are The Champions” by Queen. The critically-acclaimed artist concluded his best year yet, by serenading his fans with “Locked Out of Heaven.”

At the popular Ice Rink, revelers welcomed 2014 perched high above Las Vegas Boulevard. Guests skated on real ice while relishing in unparalleled breathtaking views of the midnight fireworks. Inside The Cosmopolitan’s magnetic cocktail house, BOND, DJ Miss Joy filled the room with electronic beats and high-energy mixes while at The Chandelier, Jennifer Keith Quintet’s classic American tunes took fans on a journey back in time to the age of Hollywood glam. Las Vegas’ top nightclub, Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub celebrated its third-anniversary as Surinamese-native DJ Chuckie wrapped up the final night of 2013 showcasing his “dirty house” rhythms mixed with dancing, bright lights and interactive stage elements.
In the year to come, The Cosmopolitan will continue to mesmerize guests inside The Chelsea as Mars returns for six more exhilarating performances on Feb. 15 and 16, May 23 and 24 and Aug. 22 and 23. Throughout 2014, fans will experience up close and personal shows by other awarding-winning bands and performers inside The Chelsea, including Cage The Elephant and Grouplove (Jan. 9), Fitz & The Tantrums and Capital Cities (Feb. 18) and Empire of the Sun (April 9).
