Mexican Street Tacos |
Tacos
& Tequila (T&T) at Luxor Hotel and Casino will honor Mexican
Independence Day from Friday, Sept. 13 through Monday, Sept. 16, with a lively
celebration featuring authentic Mexican street tacos, margaritas and a Mariachi
brunch.
Throughout
the holiday weekend, Corporate Executive Chef Saul Ortiz will serve authentic
Mexican street tacos, priced at $3 à la carte. The signature tacos include:
Bouche (pig’s stomach) topped with salsa de puya, onions and cilantro; Lengua
(cow’s tongue) topped with tomatillo salsa, cilantro and onions; and Chapulin
(grasshopper) topped with cabbage slaw, cilantro and onions tossed in avocado
vinaigrette.
T&T
will offer a Deer and a Beer margarita, priced at $18. The frozen margarita is
made with Cazadores tequila, a brand whose iconic deer symbol represents
Jalisco highlands, a place known for its succulent agave, and an upside down
bottle of Dos Equis Lager that flows directly into the cocktail.
Mariachi
Brunch will be available from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The
menu includes house favorites such as the traditional Huevos Rancheros,
Albondigas Soup, Chilaquiles with red or green sauce and Breakfast Burritos
made with machaca. Guests may complement the brunch with two-for-one Top Shelf
Margaritas and Bloody Marias.

Chef
Ortiz recently appeared on Food Network’s “Chopped,” where he brought modern
Mexican cuisine to a national platform. Named one of the best tequila bars of
2011 in America by USA Today, Tacos & Tequila embodies the cool modernism
of Mexico City while incorporating traditional elements of Mexican style and
Las Vegas flair. The color mixture of old and new creates a vivid picture of
brushed aluminum, dark wood, leather, bright fabrics and colored glass. The
focal point of T&T’s design is its abstract sombrero composed of 20
brushed-aluminum panels featuring thousands of laser-cut images, including two
30-foot dancing, tequila-drinking skeletons. Lit from within, the breathtaking
panels stretch across the entire length of the restaurant floor and across the
common area, connecting the T&T retail store and walk-up daiquiri bar.
