LV Fave Frankie Moreno Heads To The Golden Nugget For Limited Performances

Golden Nugget Las Vegas welcomes to the stage Frankie Moreno for a six-week limited engagement starting March 2. Neiman Marcus Debuts DIFFA's First Fashion Show

DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) Las Vegas, Las Vegas Fashion Council and Style Fashion Week have announced the local DIFFA chapter’s inaugural fashion show, HOUSE OF DIFFA, to be held on Friday, Dec. 1. Proceeds from the show will benefit local HIV/AIDS organizations.

DIFFA Las Vegas, a local chapter of the national DIFFA organization, hosted an exclusive preview of its December show, in partnership with Neiman Marcus, at Fashion Show Mall last night. The event included Neiman Marcus spring trends; a raffle fundraiser; signature drinks by Barefoot Wine and Gas Monkey Tequila; and a display of pieces by HOUSE OF DIFFA designer, Jim McCoy. Nearly $7,000 was raised to support local HIV/AIDS organizations in Las Vegas, which included a $5,000 donation from sponsor, Neiman Marcus.

A celebration of fashion, design and philanthropy, DIFFA is one of the largest and most successful service organizations in raising funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS. Since its formation in 1984, DIFFA has raised over $41 million to support hundreds of HIV/AIDS organizations.

Race Breaks Are Set For 2017 NASCAR National Events At LVMS

Race breaks have been set for all 2017 NASCAR national events at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, LVMS announced on Friday.

Under NASCAR’s new stage-based racing format, each track’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series races are being broken into three segments in an effort to enhance in-race excitement for fans. LVMS’s 267-lap Kobalt 400 will have breaks after laps 80 and 160, on Sunday, March 12, while the 200-lap Boyd Gaming 300 on Saturday, March 11, will break after laps 45 and 90. In addition, the 146-lap Sept. 30 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race will have breaks at laps 35 and 70.

In the new format, the top 10 finishers of the first two stages of each race will be awarded additional championship points, and the winner of each stage will receive one playoff point. The caution flag will come out to signify the end of each stage, and race teams are permitted to access pit road if they choose during the scheduled breaks.

“NASCAR has always been committed to improving its product, and we are excited to see how these new changes will enhance an already thrilling race weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway,” LVMS President Chris Powell said. “The Kobalt 400 and Boyd Gaming 300 will be more exciting than ever before, and we are confident our fans will enjoy the added intensity of every lap at our 1.5-mile cathedral. It’s going to be another great NASCAR Weekend at LVMS, and we can’t wait to see the action get started in four weeks.”

LVMS’ 2017 NASCAR Weekend begins with Stratosphere Pole Day on Friday, March 10, continues with the NASCAR Xfinity Series Boyd Gaming 300 on Saturday, March 11, and finishes with the 20th Kobalt 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday, March 12. All children 12 and under get in free on Friday and Saturday with a ticketed adult and can attend the Kobalt 400 alongside a ticketed adult for just $10 on Sunday.
