Bursting onto the music charts in 1991, Naughty By Nature produced hits like "O.P.P.," "Everything's Gonna Be Alright" and "Hip Hop Hooray." The rap group received numerous accolades during the span of their career including a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, an American Music Award for Best New Rap Group and a Source Award for New Artist of the Year.

Known for the hit single "Just A Friend," Biz Markie first gained popularity as a teenager for his beat boxing and rhyming skills. The song reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 1989 and was named one of the 100 greatest hip hop songs of all time by VH1. Markie has diversified his portfolio within the last 30 years by stepping outside of the hip hop world to collaborate with The Rolling Stones, Will Smith and The Flaming Lips as well as making multiple television appearances including "Spongebob Squarepants," "Wild 'n Out," "Celebrity Fit Club" and "In Living Color."

According to MTV, "Coolio is one of the most legendary and influential music artists worldwide."  Known for helping to crossover hardcore hip hop into the mainstream music community, the West Coast rapper won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance for "Gangsta's Paradise" in 1996. The song was also nominated for Best Song of the Year, sold more than four million copies and was Billboard Magazine's number one single. Coolio has won numerous awards including an American Music Award, three MTV Awards, two Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards and a World Music Award.

Montell Jordan was the second R&B artist to sign with Def Jam Recordings after meeting Russell Simmons and Paul Stewart following his Pepperdine University graduation. The Los Angeles native is responsible for one of 1995's biggest hits, "This Is How We Do It," which earned Jordan a Grammy Award nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
