Every Thursday
Darby O’Gill and the Little People
The Birdie Bar
8:00 p.m.
FREE

Description: You're guaranteed to have a great time with this group of hooligans that the Las Vegas Weekly called “The Best Band in Las Vegas!” Darby O'Gill and the Little People have been causing music mayhem in Las Vegas for more than 12 years, with their blend of Traditional Irish Drinking Music, Modern Celtic Rock and a mixed bag of all kinds of fun songs. You'll hear songs by Irish greats like U2, Van Morrison and The Pogues, next to songs by contemporary Irish rockers like Flogging Molly, The Dropkick Murphy’s and The Tossers. But they don’t only play Irish songs, you’ll also get a little bit of Mumford and Sons, Bob Dylan and even a little Snoop Dogg for laughs. Something that sets this band aside from most is a dose of Darby’s special brand of comedy, part Don Rickles, part Evil Leprechaun. Various bawdy toasts, limericks and jokes are all part of a night out with Darby and his Little People. So put on your drinking hat and get ready for good times.

Friday, Sept. 16
Stokeswood
The Birdie Bar
9:00 p.m.
FREE

Description: Right at home on the stage and purveyors of a spontaneous party vibe, this band inspires instant fandom and uninhibited dance moves. The current lineup of this Atlanta-based pop outfit includes founding members Adam Patterson (vocals) and Mark Godwin (lead guitar) with Michael Roman (keys), Jon Joiner (drums) and Justin Mullinix (bass and live production). The musicians are known to switch instruments between songs — one hint as to their eclecticism and energy — and they eschew limits on influences. From Atlanta hip-hop beats to indie-rock melodies, “We walk the fine line of so many genres,” says Patterson. “We’re taking all the parts of what we know and making it a cohesive sound.” Proof that the formula works: Since releasing its first album in 2009, Stokeswood has been landing pop tracks on radio stations in the Southeast where that genre is often overlooked and jam is king.

Accolades include being named best local band by Creative Loafing Atlanta in 2013, 14’ and 15’. The band has played The Rock Boat, Party in the Park, CounterPoint Music Festival and Wakarusa to name a few and shared stages with artists such as X Ambassadors, Wiz Khalifa, JR JR, Primus, Sister Hazel, MGMT, Girl Talk, Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros, Minus the Bear, Coleman Hell, Michael Franti and Barenaked Ladies.
