Drinking? Take Advantage Of The Zero Fatalities Campaign With Uber

The Nevada Department of Public Safety and Uber are coming together under the Department’s Zero Fatalities campaign to promote awareness about safe, alternative transportation options to impaired driving during the July 4 holiday weekend.

During the campaign, which runs from 6/30 to 7/5, Uber is offering discounted ride codes that will cover any new user’s ride up to $15; and $5 from each ride will be donated to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). With increased enforcement over the weekend, participating law enforcement agencies will distribute Uber discount ride cards during routine traffic stops to help spread the message of choosing a sober ride.

Kicking off with a news conference in Las Vegas, speakers will include representatives from the Department of Public Safety, Nevada Highway Patrol, Uber, and MADD Nevada.

In addition, during the campaign, $1 will be donated to MADD for every Uber ride taken to or from all PT’s Entertainment Group taverns, including all Southern Nevada PT’s, Sierra Gold and Sean Patrick’s locations.

“Our taverns across the valley are the perfect setting to relax and have a drink over the long holiday weekend,” said Ross Gdovin, vice president of marketing for Golden Entertainment, parent company of PT’s Entertainment Group. “Providing our guests access to a safe ride home is of the utmost importance to our company, and we thank Uber for helping us to make that happen.”

The goal of Uber’s participation in the campaign is to bring greater awareness to safe and new transportation alternatives to driving impaired and to reduce fatalities and serious injuries as a result of impaired driving crashes. Innovative technologies, such as ridesharing, have proven to reduce impaired driving citations in other U.S. communities.
