Vegas Indoor Skydiving Announces "Tunnel Jam 2016" To Benefit Three Square Food Bank

Built in 1981 in the heart of the famed Las Vegas Strip, Vegas Indoor Skydiving was the first indoor skydiving facility to open its doors in the United States. To celebrate those 35 years of flight in America, Vegas Indoor Skydiving has announced Tunnel Jam 2016, its inaugural flight competition, pitting the city’s most talented indoor skydivers against one another for the chance to win more than $5,000 in prizes and claim the title of “Tunnel Jam Champ.”

Featuring two divisions, 11 competitors from the Vegas Indoor Skydiving staff and more than $5,000 in cash prizes up for grabs, Tunnel Jam 2016 will be held Thursday, March 10 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. inside Vegas Indoor Skydiving at 200 Convention Center Drive. To enter the tunnel observation gallery and watch all the action, guests must donate one bag of non-perishable food (at least two cans) at the door, which will go directly to Three Square Food Bank, in an effort to help families in need. Entrance into the event includes the chance to view the competition and award reception, as well as food and beverage provided by Ricardo’s Mexican Restaurant.

“This is such a big anniversary for us so we wanted to celebrate the extreme experience we brought to Las Vegas all those years ago,” said Dave McMahan, Business Development at Vegas Indoor Skydiving.  “Our staff is super skilled in the tunnel that this competition is like the NBA slam dunk contest – we have a lot of show-offs working on some really cool tricks!”

Each contestant in the Amateur and Pro Divisions will take part in a “Best Routine” competition, where their minute-long routine will be judged on a 20-point system, with marks for style and difficulty. In addition, the Pro Division will take part in a “Best Trick” competition. The Tunnel Jam 2016 celebrity judge panel will include Chris Kael, bassist from Las Vegas’ own heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch and former Vegas Indoor Skydiving flight instructor, BMX pro and reality television star Ricardo Laguna, legendary flight instructor Ray Kubiak and Carlota from KOMP 92.3.
