Yes We Have Culture Here In LV! Sin City Opera's 2015/2016 Season

Sin City Opera kicks-off its 2015 - 2016 season with “Opera in the Movies,” a FREE Concert presented by the City of Las Vegas, September 4th at 7:00 p.m. at the Charleston Heights Arts Center. The concert will feature operatic hits along with the movie clips that made them famous.  The concert will feature the best of the Sin City Opera singers from past seasons in selections from; The Godfather, Casino, Wall Street, The Fifth Element, Shawshank Redemption, Moonstruck, Pretty Woman, A Room With A View, Up, The Untouchables and Goodfellas.  This free event is part of SCO’s dedication to educating the Las Vegas community in the operatic arts.

The Consul: November 13th – 22nd 2015
Sin City Opera will open their season at the Winchester Cultural Center with The Consul, an opera in two acts by Gian Carlo Menotti.  The opera will be presented in the original English fully staged and will feature the Sin City Opera Orchestra, under the direction of Jack Gaughan.  First time Sin City Opera director Matthew Kirchner will guide the audience through Magda’s journey of political oppression, beauracracy and red-tape in a new communist regime as she fights to keep her family alive and together under political unrest in eastern Europe, starring Marcie Ley as Magda.

Cosi Fan Tutti: February 12th – 21st, 2016
Also presented at the Winchester Cultural Center is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s, Cosi Fan Tutti. This love story featuring the fickleness of women will be turned on its head when presented in this turn-of -the-century “Steampunk” version women are smart, educated, and have more options then ever before – look out gentlemen!  The show brings back the much loved, Las Vegas mezzo-soprano, Stephanie Sadownik as Dorabella and features Katharine Gunnick as Fiordiligi, with the Sin City Opera Orchestra, under the direction of Jack Gaughan.

La PĂ©richole: May 6th – 15th, 2016
Sin City Opera will close their season with the hilarious two-act comedic opera La PĂ©richole by Jacques Offenbach.  This family friendly English production will be directed by SCO’s Artistic Director, Skip Galla and feature the Sin City Opera Orchestra, under the direction of Jack Gaughan, once again proving how a city filled with different types of people can all get along for the sake of love.
Dates: May 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th at 7:00 PM and 8th, 15th at 2:00 PM
