Opportunity Village's Vocal Group To Join Million Dollar Quartet Onstage
The Village Blend is Opportunity Village’s version of a stage choir, combining both vocals and choreography to perform a dynamic show. This is Opportunity Village’s newest performance group to hit the stage. Featuring talented individuals with intellectual and related disabilities, Village Blend is one of many programs within Opportunity Village’s Fine and Performing Arts division that allow the OVIPs’ creative skills to soar.
A significant connection between the past and the present, Opportunity Village was the original manufacturer of the scarves of one of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET’s famed icons, Elvis Presley, which he tossed to his adoring fans during his record-setting run at the International Hotel in the ‘70s. In true MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET fashion, the cast is thrilled to welcome this organization to the stage in celebration of this outstanding milestone.
The Tony®Award-Winning musical, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET takes place on December 4, 1956, when Sam Phillips, the “Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” brought iconic musicians Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins together at the Sun Records storefront studio in Memphis for the first and only time.
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET brings that legendary December night to life with the extraordinary story of secrets, betrayal, and the once in a lifetime celebration of four friends that is both poignant and funny. Relive the era with the smash-hit sensation featuring an incredible score of rock ‘n’ roll, gospel, R&B and country hits, performed live onstage by world-class actors and musicians. Showcased hit songs include: “Blue Suede Shoes,” “I Walk the Line,” “Great Balls of Fire,”“Sixteen Tons,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Fever,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Whole LottaShakin’ Goin’ On,” “Hound Dog,” and more.
