Is Your Name Georgia? FREE Tix To New Show At The Venetian!

It seems that these days – everybody has Georgia on their minds.  In fact, those lucky enough to be named “Georgia” have a treat waiting for them at The Venetian® Las Vegas box office.

Throughout the run of GEORGIA ON MY MIND: Celebrating the Music of Ray Charles, opening today, The Venetian Las Vegas is offering anyone named Georgia one complimentary ticket to see the show.*

The name “Georgia” has a Greek origin, and means tiller of the soil, or farmer.  It peaked in popularity in the 1880s, but has seen a revival of late, with several celebrities naming their daughters “Georgia,” including:

·         Mick Jagger (born in 1992)
·         Harry Connick Jr (born in 1996)
·         Felicity Huffman and William Macy (born in 2002)
·         Zac Brown (born in 2009)

GEORGIA ON MY MIND: Celebrating the Music of Ray Charles will feature a host of esteemed stars:
·         Emmy award-winner Clint Holmes
·         10-time Grammy award-winning vocal group TAKE 6
·         6-time Grammy nominee and DownBeat Vocalist of the Year Nnenna Freelon
·         Stella Gospel Award and Grammy award-winning saxophone star Kirk Whalum.

The show also introduces the Las Vegas Mass Choir, under the direction of James R. Smith and Edie Aikels, and features the Las Vegas All-Star Big Band, under the direction of pianist and conductor, David Loeb.

This dynamic ensemble of all-star performers will celebrate the genius of American music, Mr. Ray Charles, through GEORGIA ON MY MIND, in The Venetian Theatre Sept. 18 through Oct. 29, 2014.
